The Centerline Rumble Strip is a highway wake up call –
drift over the center line while you’re driving, and the roughened pavement strip “rumbles” and calls you back to the reality of the road, and hopefully prevents an accident. Although I knew what it was, the first time I saw a “Centerline Rumble Strip” sign I immediately got this image of a DOT approved game of highway chicken: “Rumble, rumble, rumble! Everyone to the center, and first one to swerve loses!” Either way, dreams hit the road with the Centerline Rumble Strip, hence the name of this blog.
I am a writer by trade, the author of two books on health, co-author of Makerspaces in Libraries (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015), and author of the Complete Book of Library Makerspaces (Rowman & Littlefield, 2017). Factory where we work as consultants helping libraries and other organizations develop makerspaces and creative programming.
I have more than 30 years of social entrepreneurship experience across a diverse spectrum of fields and interests, all focused on doing work I’m passionate about, in a way that I hope makes the world a better place in the small corner of it that I can affect.
I believe strongly in the value of collaborative, open source and crowd sourced solutions, and in the strength of mentor-based learning.
The meaning of life, is the meaning we bring to it.
